The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently selected SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) as the preferred bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract BCDD-01 for the Bhubaneswar Metro Phase 1 project.

Package BCDD-01 involves establishing design standards for two precast elements, U-girders and pier caps, as well as bearings, for the 26.04 km Bhubaneswar Metro Line-1. This line will link Biju Patnaik Airport and Trisulia Square through an elevated section with 20 stations.

DMRC had called for bids for this consultancy contract in May 2024 with an estimated cost of Rs. 97.02 lakh (excluding GST) and a contract duration of 36 months. Technical bids were opened on June 4, revealing SYSTRA as the sole bidder, making them the front-runner for the contract.

SYSTRA submitted a bid of Rs. 1.042 crore, which was 7.40% above the estimate, leading to negotiations with DMRC on July 3. During these negotiations, SYSTRA’s management offered a reduced bid of Rs. 1.012 crore, which was 4.31% higher than the estimate but was accepted by DMRC’s tender committee as reasonable.

The contract for Package BCDD-01 is expected to be awarded to SYSTRA shortly, if it hasn’t been already.

Route of Bhubaneswar Metro’s Package BBC-03 from Capital Hospital to Acharya Square

DMRC’s Brief Scope: Engagement of DDC for standardization of U-Girder, precast post-tensioned pier caps, and bearings, along with design and drawings for Bhubaneswar MRTS Phase-I (Biju Patnaik Airport to Trisulia Square Corridor).

The Bhubaneswar Metro’s viaduct will be constructed through three packages. In June, DMRC received 12 bids for Package BBC-03 (Capital Hospital – Acharya Vihar Square), 11 bids for BBC-04 (Acharya Vihar Square – KIIT Square), and 10 bids for BBC-05 (KIIT Square – Trisulia Square). The winners of these packages will collaborate with SYSTRA to build the line’s viaduct.

In June, DMRC also received three bids for DDC Package BCDD-02, which includes architectural and building services such as E&M, traction works, and civil works for Phulapokhari Depot and OCC building. The technical bid evaluation for this package is still ongoing.
