Afcons Infrastructure has emerged as the lowest bidder for the civil construction work (designated as Package UG-03) concerning the upcoming Phase 1C of the Jaipur Metro. This phase, spanning 3.41 kilometers, will create a connection between Badi Chaupar and Transport Nagar, effectively extending Jaipur's operational Pink Line (Mansarovar – Badi Chaupar) by 11.98 kilometers towards the east, reaching Transport Nagar. The construction plan entails 2.65 kilometers of underground route, involving twin tunnels passing through the historic city, and the addition of a new station named Ramganj Chaupar. Additionally, an elevated route of 0.76 kilometers will be established, featuring a new station at Transport Nagar.

Afcons Infrastructure submitted a bid of Rs. 630.45 crore, significantly lower than JMRC's initial estimation of Rs. 717.23 crore. As a result, it is anticipated that a contract will be awarded in the upcoming months, bypassing the need for an extensive financial bid evaluation period.

Brief Scope of Project:

  •           Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel by Shield TBM in all types of soil/every type of rock Strata.
  • Design and Construction of one underground station viz Ramganj Chaupar by Top-down Cut & Cover method along with entry/exit structures and associated structures.
  • Design and construction of cut and cover tunnels.
  • Design and Construction of underground ramp.
  • Design and Construction of all temporary works associated with construction of the Works including temporary steel decking over cut and cover structures under roadways to allow uninterrupted flow of traffic.
  • Diversion/support/maintenance of chartered utilities.
  • Water Proofing of all underground structures and roof of above ground structure.
  • Construction of two deep tube-wells of 24000 lph yield for Ramganj Chaupar station including submersible pumps of required capacity, electrical cable up to main control panel, GI pipe line, including connecting them to main water supply tank.
  • Design and Construction of tunnel (TBM Tunnel as well as Cut & Cover tunnel) drainage system including fixing of heavy duty sump riser pipe of required size.

In June 2020, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase 1C was formulated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This comprehensive report projected a total cost of Rs. 856 crore, encompassing taxes and land acquisition expenses.

In January 2023, DMRC was appointed as the General Consultant for the project. Their prior recommendation emphasized that the existing fleet of 10 4-car BEML train-sets would suffice for this modest extension, negating the need for additional rolling stock.
