The TBM S94 began operations in January 2023 from the western shaft of Kapodra Station, tasked with constructing an up-line tunnel. Over the course of a year, the TBM successfully bored through approximately 1.5 kilometers.
The TBM made a significant breakthrough at the unique Labheshwar Chowk Metro Station, which is situated 30 meters underground and features two platforms and two concourse levels. This station will be the second deepest metro station in India, following the Howrah Metro station of Kolkata Metro’s East-West Corridor.

TBMs S94 and S78 have reached their intended positions and are scheduled to be extracted from the eastern shaft of Surat Metro Station soon.
TBMs S94 and S78 are responsible for constructing six tunnels for the 3.46 km Package CS2 / UG1, a project awarded by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) in March 2021. Their work also includes building metro stations at Kapodra, Labheshwar Chowk, and Central Warehouse.
The Surat Metro Rail Project Phase 01 spans 41.93 km and includes two lines: Sarthana to Dream City (22.77 km with 20 stations) and Bhesan to Saroli (19.26 km with 18 stations). The project is slated for completion in 2027.
